Robert K. Morgan's "Memphis Bell" B-17 Nose Art
Artist Gary Velasco is often commissioned to paint the nose art on flying restored warbirds for private collectors and museums. He also creates exacting half-scale replica panels that capture the fighting spirit that led pilots and squadrons to individualize their fighter planes with names, pictures and kill tallies. This artwork comes specifically from the fighter plane of Robert K. Morgan, which was the first B-17 to complete 25 missions and accounted for eight enemy planes shot down, five probables and damage to 12 others.
