Maceo Parket: Roots & Grooves
Parker spent years as James Brown‘s saxophonist, stage foil, and right-hand man. He also played with funk titans George Clinton and Bootsy Collins before embarking on a successful solo career. Recorded live on tour with German‘s renowned WDR Big Band, this set is both a tribute to the legendary Ray Charles (when Parker sings, he sounds a lot like the Genius) and a showcase for Parker‘s own fiery hybrid of R&B, soul, and funk. 14 tracks include “Busted,“ “What‘d I Say,“ and “Pass the Peas.“ Two CDs.
