Bob Newhart‘s stand-up style was a stark contrast to the brash, loud delivery of other 1960‘s comedians. Always the deadpan straight man, the ex-accountant with a receding hairline brought audiences to hysterics with his sidesplitting accounts of everyday (“Bus Driver‘s School,“ “Retirement Party“) and momentous events (“A Private in Washington‘s Army,“ “The Khrushchev Landing Rehearsal“). Three recordings from 1960 and 1961 are available.
