Father Brown attends an open day at a vineyard but the wine is contaminated by a dead dog in the vat. Suspicion falls on sinister handy-man, who is blackmailing the colonel. When the handy-man is shot dead, the colonel is arrested. Father Brown visits the colonel in prison and discovers that all is not what it seems.

The Judgement of Man
A priceless painting is on loan from the Vatican at a local art gallery and Father Brown is convinced that it will be stolen.

The Time Machine
Father Brown visits a student who is convinced his father was murdered. He's built a time machine so that he can travel back to prove his case. When the student also dies, Father Brown suspect the student's theory about his father's murder was correct, and tries out the time machine for himself.

The Standing Stones
A barmaid is stabbed to death in a village stricken with polio. Father Brown finds evidence to link the local herbalist to the murder but others think she was ritually sacrificed to heal the polio victims.

The Paradise of Thieves
Father Brown happens to be at the bank when there is an armed robbery. But the criminals flee after the vault is opened to reveal the corpse of the bank manager's son-in-law.

The Deadly Seal
A mysterious visitor to the confession box informs Father Brown that Bishop Talbot will be murdered. The bishop had been arguing with an actor, and it's discovered that the bishop owned a large collection of banned plays. Father Brown uncovers a bizarre pact.

Father Brown is stunned to learn that Inspector Sullivan is wanted for murder.
