In this 19th outing (after The House of Unexpected Sisters), her opponent is the unscrupulous Violet Sephotho, who is in the pocket of the hotel developers. Volunteering to help a friend of Mma Ramotswe's father, Charlie wants to prove he's ready to be a detective, but when he lands in hot water—and with Election Day approaching—Mma Ramotswe will have to call upon all her good humor and generosity of spirit to save the day.
